The Girls Education Access Initiative (GEAI) started as a targeted online advocacy and awareness platform in 2019 and became officially registered with the CAC in 2023. Our m1ss1on is championing the Rights of Vulnerable Young Women and Girls to quality education and promoting Gender equality with a vision to create an equitable world where girls can thrive through access to quality education and mobilize communities to champion girls’ rights.
To help advance our mission and vision, GEAI focuses on four core areas: advocacy and policy, scholarship/Scholastic material support, awareness raising, and community Sensitisation. Over the years, we have sustained our social media education and awareness and recently began interventions in the Karonmajigi community in Abuja while supporting a few girls in rekindling their educational pursuits.
GEAI also hosts the Gender. ish podcast dedicated to challenging harmful gender stereotypes one conversation at a time.
For us at GEAI, part of promoting quality education for girls and gender equality involves keeping schools safe from Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and addressing norms and practices that drive SGBV from a Gender transformative standpoint. We believe that the key to expanding the reach and impact of our work to help bridge the yawning gap in education and gender equality rests on the quality of partnerships, especially those of like minds and empowering girls and young women to champion their cause.
